Juliana and Ted, Sam, Antonia and Austin

Juliana and Ted and their kids came to visit during July. And even though we had over 22 inches of rain in July, it didn't rain while they were here. While they were here, we roasted hot dogs on the fire pit and then Matt and the kids made sommores on the pit. Bob and the guys set up targets in the dry part of the creek and everyone took turns shooting the old rifle. We relaxed around the pool, barbecued and just relaxed. The kids got their fill of Cartoon Network. We even tried our hands at crabbing in Seadrift, but we had so much rain that there was too much fresh water in the bay.

Before and After

Before we moved, we knew we wanted to transform our concrete block home into a comfortable hacienda. We had picked out colors and knew what we wanted to do with the rooms to make them more warm and inviting. All the rooms were antiseptic white, so we started by adding joint compound and color to the walls, and wallah! we were creating our colonial Texas hacienda!

The Big Move

After living in the same house for 30 years, we found the house, or we should say, the hacienda for us. Out in the country, about 10 miles from Victoria, we can still get into town within 15 minutes, and yet, we are now "country folks". The house is great in both size and uniqueness! We have almost 11 acres and 5,000 square feet, plus a guest house and two barns which have already been repaired and transformed into a screened barbecue barn and, of course, the MG barn. Since the property was vacant for almost a year, it needed a lot of TLC, both in the house and the pastures. Only 3.5 acres have been somewhat cleared, and we have cleared more and have plans to clear the rest in the next few months.

The house is like an empty palette, and I am working to make it into a comfortable, warm home.
